This policy explains what personal information MJM Movers uses when you ask for a quote, book a job, contact the team or use this website.
1. Information MJM Movers may use
- Your name, phone number, email address and contact preferences.
- Collection and delivery addresses, postcodes and moving dates.
- Item lists, photographs, access details and special instructions you choose to provide.
- Quote, booking, deposit, payment and invoice information.
- Messages, call notes, feedback, complaints and insurance claim information.
- Public Facebook review details, such as a reviewer name, profile picture, review text and date.
- Technical records such as IP address, browser type, requested page and time of access in hosting security logs.
2. How the information is collected
The quote form prepares a WhatsApp message on your device. The website does not save what you type into that form to a database. MJM Movers receives those details only if you choose to send the WhatsApp message.
Information can also be received when you call, email, message, book, pay a deposit or use the service. Public review and post details may come from the MJM Movers Facebook Page. Technical information is collected automatically by the website host and third party content used on the page.
3. Why the information is used and the lawful basis
- Quotes, bookings and moving work: to respond to your request, agree a job, take payment and provide the service. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before a contract and performing the contract.
- Customer service and records: to answer questions, manage changes, handle complaints and protect both the customer and the business. The lawful basis is contract and legitimate interests in running the service properly.
- Accounts and legal duties: to keep payment, invoice, tax and other records required by law. The lawful basis is legal obligation.
- Website security: to deliver the site, diagnose faults and prevent misuse. The lawful basis is legitimate interests in keeping the website available and secure.
- Public Facebook reviews and posts: to show recent customer feedback and real work completed by the business. The lawful basis is legitimate interests in presenting the service and its public reputation. Contact Martin if you want MJM Movers to review or remove your public content from this website.
4. Who information may be shared with
Information is shared only when it is reasonably needed. This may include the MJM team carrying out the job, the bank or payment service used for a deposit, the website host, IT providers, accountants, insurers, professional advisers and public authorities where the law requires it.
If you send a WhatsApp message, WhatsApp and Meta process that communication under their own privacy terms. Live Facebook profile pictures, reviews, posts or photos may also be supplied by Meta. These providers may process information outside the UK under the safeguards described in their own policies.
5. Website tools and external content
The homepage includes an OpenStreetMap map. When it loads, OpenStreetMap receives technical request information such as your IP address and browser details under its own privacy policy. Following a Facebook or WhatsApp link takes you to a service with its own privacy terms.
The site uses a small item of local storage in your browser to remember the latest Facebook review notice you have seen. This avoids showing the same notice repeatedly. It does not contain your name, contact details or quote information. At the date of this policy, MJM Movers does not use advertising trackers or website analytics.
6. How long information is kept
Information is kept only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the quote, booking, moving service, customer support, insurance, accounts or a legal requirement. Unsent quote form details are not received or retained by the website. Enquiries that do not become a booking are removed when they are no longer needed for follow up. Booking, payment and invoice records are kept for the periods required by tax, accounting and legal rules. Hosting logs are kept according to the host's security and operational retention schedule.
7. Your privacy rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, correct it, have it deleted, restrict its use, object to its use or receive it in a portable format. Where consent is used, you can withdraw it. These rights are not absolute and the lawful basis can affect which rights apply.
Contact Martin using the details above to make a request or raise a concern. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
8. Changes to this policy
This page will be updated if the way MJM Movers uses personal information or website services changes. The latest revision date is shown at the top of the page.
